Our volunteers

Janis
Janis has been volunteering with Girl Guides WA for more than 50 years, seeing first-hand how the Guiding program has changed to meet the evolving needs of girls and women. Read more here

Elizabeth
Elizabeth has been involved in both the Girl Guide and Scout movements since she was a child, with fond memories of being a Brownie in the UK before emigrating to Australia and going on to become a Unit Leader in Training at Roleystone Girl Guides. Read more here

Ghylene
Ghylène is our Representative on the Girl Guides Australia Board, as appointed by the GGWA Board. She is passionate about creating positive social change, diversity, and inclusion. Read more here
Our State Team

State Commissioner: Sharon O’Brien
Sharon brings an impressive 37+ years of Girl Guiding experience. Sharon has organised a multitude of events, including state and international camps, environmental projects, and leadership development programs. Her background as an Assistant State Commissioner further underscores her familiarity with the role’s requirements. Sharon’s vision includes a keen awareness of the challenges families face, promoting growth, and exploring innovative ideas to support our members such as alternative program delivery and flexibility.

Assistant State Commissioner: Erin Farley
With extensive Guiding experience since she was 7 years old, Erin possesses a wealth of communication skills and excels in leadership. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Wildlife Biology, her profound love for the outdoors is seen in her active contributions to the water team and hiking activities. Erin provides support to Units in the Joondalup region.

Assistant State Commissioner: Lauren Goodheart
With a robust Guiding background since the age of 6, Lauren shares a vision to make Guiding highly relevant and enjoyable for girls and young women. This perfectly aligns with Girl Guides Western Australia’s goals, ensuring a fun experience for both Guides and Leaders. Lauren currently leads the Hampton Park Girl Guides in the North Metro region.
