Global Context

Creating a world where every girl feels empowered to lead, explore and make a difference.

Girl Guides WA are honoured to be part of the larger family of Girl Guides Australia (GGA) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). This alliance unites us in a global mission to empower girls and young women. Our connection to the worldwide Guiding community allows us to extend our impact far beyond local borders, participating in collaborative projects, engaging with World Centres, and contributing to regional and global initiatives. Through these efforts, we’re not just nurturing the growth of our members; we’re actively involved in shaping and advancing the Guiding movement on a global scale.

Discover a world brimming with international adventures and unparalleled opportunities for travel and volunteering. Our journey stretches far and wide, from exhilarating jamborees in distant lands to impactful volunteer projects that span the globe. As Guides, we’re not just tourists; we’re ambassadors of change, immersing ourselves in new cultures, embracing diverse perspectives, and making meaningful contributions to communities everywhere. Embark with us on this extraordinary voyage, where every step we take strengthens our global connections and leaves a lasting, positive imprint on the world.

GGA stands as one of Australia’s largest organisations for girls and young women, fostering leadership and personal skills development for its 30,000 members, including an impressive 22,000 youth members. Run as a not-for-profit entity, GGA leverages the unique knowledge and skills of volunteers at all levels, ensuring maximum benefit for its members.

WAGGGS owns and operates five World Centres located in Mexico, Switzerland, India, Africa, and the United Kingdom. These centres serve as hubs for events, training, conferences, and unique international experiences for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide.
