Providing first aid for mental health is just as important as being able to provide regular first aid, and it is the crucial first step in the process before the person is referred on to a professional to continue that care.
Topics covered in the course:
- Understanding mental health;
- Building mental health knowledge;
- Putting first aid for mental health into practice; and
- Taking care of yourself.
The First Aid for Mental Health course contains detailed information about stress, depression, anxiety and suicidality including examples, scenarios and skills practice.
This content may be distressing or upsetting for people with lived experience, people with a severe and persistent mental illness or people who are currently experiencing symptoms associated with a mental health issue. Please take this into consideration when enrolling to attend this training.
