At our heart, we have a Volunteer management team that embodies warmth, empowerment and an unwavering commitment to creating spaces where girls can shine.
Guided by a collective vision of friendship, community and adventure, our Leaders are devoted to fostering environments that inspire girls to embrace challenges, discover their strengths and forge connections that last a lifetime.
Our State Team
Meet the Girl Guides Western Australia State Team, led by our State Commissioner, Sharon O’Brien.
State Commissioner: Dr Sharon O’Brien
Sharon brings an impressive 37+ years of Girl Guiding experience. Sharon has organised a multitude of events, including state and international camps, environmental projects, and leadership development programs. Her background as an Assistant State Commissioner further underscores her familiarity with the role’s requirements. Sharon’s vision includes a keen awareness of the challenges families face, promoting growth, and exploring innovative ideas to support our members such as alternative program delivery and flexibility.
Assistant State Commissioner: Erin Farley
With extensive Guiding experience since she was 7 years old, Erin possesses a wealth of communication skills and excels in leadership. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Wildlife Biology, her profound love for the outdoors is seen in her active contributions to the water team and hiking activities. Erin provides support to Units in the Joondalup region.
Our Region Managers
In our commitment to effective management and leadership, each region is structured to suit the unique geography and population density of WA. Region Managers play a pivotal role in empowering Adult Leaders and managers, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality Australian Guide Program.
Our Region Managers undertake additional management training, making their role a valuable and senior leadership position within our organisation. They lead their respective region teams, providing crucial support to Unit Leaders, Volunteers, and offering feedback to enhance the overall effectiveness of operations at Guide House.
