Applications for State Commissioner 2022

The position of State Commissioner will become vacant on June 30 2022. A call for applications was made on February 23 with a closing date on March 23. Unfortunately no applications have been received.

Girl Guides WA By-Law 1.1 d) states, “In the case of only one nomination or no nomination, the nomination period will be extended by twenty-eight (28) days”.

In accordance with this, applications will remain open till 5 pm on April 20 2022.

An information pack including the application form and an explanation of the election process is available on the Girl Guides WA website.

The position of State Commissioner is of great importance to Girl Guides WA. The State Commissioner will have the opportunity to contribute to the future of Guiding in Western Australia through proper governance, effective administration and the provision of platforms for girls and young women to discover their potential as leaders of their world. She will also serve as a Director of the Board of Girl Guides Australia, providing a direct link and line of communication between the state and national organisations.

An applicant must have made or be willing to make the Promise. Any adult member of Girl Guides WA may apply to be State Commissioner. She may be someone who has a deep understanding of Guiding, good communication skills and leadership qualities.  She may have had experience on a State Committee, as a State or National office-bearer or as a Region Manager.  She may be someone not currently involved but who would be very capable in the role.   An applicant may also be someone from another organisation who is willing to become a member.
