CV and career advice

Guiding is a great asset for your CV. It will boost your CV in a number of areas such as Work Experience or Achievements and Awards. Perhaps most useful would be to create a section called Community and Volunteer Service. This highlights the initiatives you have taken and positions you as a strong, all-round contributor.

Skills, Interests and Hobbies is another section where Guiding fits. Use this section to emphasise your skills such as leadership, teamwork, personal development and achievements (including awards and certificates earned), as well as examples of community service activities you have achieved.

Skills gained from Guiding include:

     -  excellent communication skills at all levels

     -  motivated and able to work unsupervised

     -  organised, reliable and trustworthy

     -  adaptable and a good team player

     -  confident and capable team leader
