Leader Training

The Australian Adult Leadership Program recognises prior learning, gives Leaders targeted training where required, and provides skill development in areas nominated by individuals. The program is designed to train Leaders in a self-paced series of modules, at home or at residential trainings, using up-to-date learning resources, supplied by Girl Guides WA.

The Leadership Program assists adult members to develop leadership skills and Guiding knowledge, and gives recognition to those who demonstrate their competence in the leadership role.

Training is available to women who nominate to participate, having gained Working With Children Check clearance. Recognition is linked to women who are prepared to make a personal commitment to the Guide Promise and Law.

The training program is modular, in four levels and completed sequentially. The first two modules, Guiding Awareness and Leadership Development, are completed by all Leaders.

Guiding Awareness

For new leaders, an introduction to Guiding and its principles.

Leadership Development

General introduction to leadership skills including communication needs of girls, personal development plan.

Leadership Qualification

Leaders choose one of three strands depending on their intended role.
Common modules for all adults, role specific modules for leaders working with youth, or with adults, or as resource personnel. Completion receives recognition as a qualified Guide Leader.

Further development

Leaders may elect to complete any modules listed at this level. A specified number of modules must be completed every three years to maintain their Appointment. Leaders can also work towards an achievement award or adult badges.
